View Full Version : Tips on modeling trees..
Kahenraz 01-19-2004, 06:39 PM Treeeeees!! How the heck do you make good looking trees?!
Does anyone have any suggestions, tips or references?
The trees I need to make are going to be used in-game, but high poly counts are supported. i.e.: no fps killing high poly tree generators.

Trees are recursive ...
Create a trunk ... add branches (use octagons as your standard cross section ... and take teh hit when merging two branches)
Create a short tree with about 5 or six branches branching off from various heights.
Now copy the entire thing at a smaller scale to the top of the 5 or 6 branches. Now you have 25 or 36 terminations or tips). Repeat as needed.
