i made a model and now i want to know how to make custom bones in character studio! i have 3ds max 4.2 with CS 3.1! i made wings and a long old tail for it and it is going to have pistons and other cool stuff moving around!(cyborg thingy) when i figure this site out i'll post some renders and stuff up in the game wip forum!
but for now i want to know how to "bone" the model! plus i was trying to construct a enviroment for it to display!
:)

and plus i want to know how to do those cool wire frame renders i see in all the forums!:shrug: the poly count is around 4k ish!
alot of one sided polys and optomized faces! to pull off such alow poly count considering the detail i put in it!

Hey there,
Lots of questions at once. Creating a "custom" bone in CS is quite easy, it just requires some geometry, that you need to link to the biped so that it can be included in the skinning process. I would recommend that you give a look at the CS manual, where it is explained, as well as skinning.

As for the environment, well if you have specific questions i'm sure they'll be answered. The wire frame render is a question that comes up very often, performing a search on "wireframe" in the max forum i came up with a couple threads on it.
