CGTalk - Duplicates?

okay i have this when merging an object to the scene, i just want to know how do i get to use the tick box "apply to all duplicates"?

ive tryed and never get it to work, so i have to rename each object manually :|

Also on another note, does anyone know how to creat elements when in element mode when in edit poly?

Since i'm new with it i'm not sure but from my expirence it is automaticaly aplied to all dups.

yeah but i mean when i tick the box then add something i want aplyed ot if does it too all imported object it unticks itself :| iver never got it to work
