View Full Version : Speed Modeling, Spider 3.25 Hrs.

Hey all, I did this model for the Speed Modeling thread. I do low poly real time work, so I decided to be "fair" I would model/UV/texture in 3hrs or less.

The spider took me 3.25hrs:

Modeling: 45 min.
UV Mapping: 30 min.
Texturing: 1.75 hr.
Fixing studpid mistake: 15 min.

Program: Maya, Photoshop 7.0

Tris Count: 1900

It has 3 256x256 textures (Color, Spec, Bump). And it has one 128x128 alpha map (hair)

Feel free to comment and critique, however I doubt I will work on it anymore, really just doing it to participate in thread. But your input is always helpfull for new projects! Thanks!

not bad for 3 hours but your missing somethings, like 8 eyes :) i think some color varion would really help make it "lively"

Thanks Mangled Poly. Do all spiders have 8 eyes? I thought it varied depending on the species...hmm. Yeah I agree with color varation, tried some other colors, what colors do you think would work well?

well you have to rember your doing games, contrast is good, but you want something that sticks out, generally spiders dont have much color so black/red would prolly be your most legit choice well giving you the color/contrast you need, but rember even black has shades and highlights ;)
