how can i achieve something cooler?

paint a very high resolution environment of your own, you can then have it look just as you like

Painting is the way to go. Didn't like the Photoshop tutorial in the other thread?
If you don't want to paint, you could try space photos like these.

Couldn't it be done using particle systems and a couple spacewarps like vortex and suchs ? Might be very slow to render, though.
