That is a funnt looking creature.
like an imborling
So you only have to texture the environment!

That's pretty good. Maybe you could give us some details about this piece. For example: Is this going to be a day or night scene? How much work are you planning on doing still? Is there a story to go along with the picture? What was your inspiration for this picture?

It's really hard to give C&C when someone just puts a picture up and says "here's what I've been working on".

cool stuff-kinda reminds me of tim burton's nightmare before christmas. one suggestion would be that you should incresa the density of the grass. and i gotta say that i like the way you colorized the image. that the character is in fact the only thing that has some coulour at all.

Ok, heres more about him. The scene is supposed to be a night one, there will be atmospheric perspective in the bg and appropriate DOF. The whole scene is basically dark but theres this magical light that shines upon him, hence the reason for him to look upwards. :D

Makes any sense to u? Gotta texture it...argh..time running short.

I see he did come through. At least, what I envisioned him to be.

If that is NOT the final composition of the scene:

1) I agree with the part about the 'grass' being more dense.

2) maybe rearrange the stones in the BG? At the moment they looked abit too... "posed", like 1 neat pile on each side of him? Maybe it'll help to keep the shot more asymet. and natural - like a forest.

3) I think the idea of light on him is a great thing to have, judging by the settings u described.

4) slap on not a "livelier", but "life-lier" pose on him -- express his thoughts/wonder about that light on him with some well-thought out and natural-looking angles at which his limbs (i.e. how the legs and feet would be reacting to a typical forest ground) or especially his neck/head should be posed--- a cool looking character that looks like he THINKS, because he's ALIVE, will reap the full effect of the effort you put into this whole scene.

Good luck, brother :D

...and oh yeah,

I'm always a fan of detail... and you HAVE details

How bout posting us a closer-up shot of him, to show all the guys here the intricates of his physique?

It's often near completion that the tired artist lets go... hang on to your standards all the way. Looking forward.

Finally have time to talk about this guy. As u can see, the skull he is wearing implies an evil nature, i would rather call it a mischievious nature combined with his geeky look. This very moment in the image is when our dear demon stumbles upon an open patch, where he discovers a mesmerising blueish light. As he walks closer to the source of this light, bubbles start floating down and he looks up to this very magical source.

How this was achieved is pretty simple. All mandatory procedures, however i couldnt use DOF for the bg cos when i did that, the bubbles started to render wierd. Anyone knows the cause? I used max.

As for inspiration? I guess i was always more inclined to the cartoony style. I love creatures and i thought that i should take a break from modelling them and ventured into creating a nice scene with character and all.

Well thats all i have to say for this piece. Do give me your comments. Tks!!:D
