View Full Version : Copying a range of keys
dragonfollower 01-10-2004, 11:29 PM Hi,
I have a character walking and I want it to loop. I don't want to use compose
for this and so my solution is to copy the range of keys (for every bone) for
his walk cycle and paste them over and over again on the timeline.
How would I do this? I tried using Range, but it seems to only copy the keys
for a single bone. How would I copy the keys to ALL of the bones and ALL of the
walk cycle?
Thanks,
-Brian

Hi Dragonflower,
I'm by no means a messiah power user - but I did some experimenting and came up with the following possible solution:
I'm not sure which "Range" you're using. But there is a "Copy Key Range" under the "Edit" tab that works beautifully.
Select the parent control object for the "Source". Type in the "In" and "Out" frames that you want to copy. (ex. In 0.0, Out 44.0)
Select the same object for the "Dest"(Destination). Type in the new range. (ex. In 44.0, Out 88.0)
You'll see the light blue and mauve colors in the motion graph for the above as visual indicators.
Check "Use Hierarchies" (Very important)
Channels "Use Channel Group Setting"
Op "Overlay"
Then press "Copy".
The above worked while playing with the Proton rig - but, I'm sure some of the other power users can chime in and go over some of the subtleties of the "Copy Key Range" function. :)

Is that feature only in Animate 4.0? I'm still using 3.3 (no $$$) and I don't see it under the edit tab.
Thanks for the advice though.
