Hi there, I have some basic questions.

First, do you use the highres model (the smoothed version) for rigging or the control cage?

Let's say that you use the control cage. Is it possible to use a model which is not the unsmoothed version and control with this model the highres (smoothed) version? (it's basicly the control cage but with some more polys)

You should rig the control cage which drives the hi res. One of the reasons is that the low res has les verts to deal with when rigid binding or less verts to deal with when painting weights. Also its better easier on your system to animate the low res then the hi of course.

ahhhh double negative.... not unsmoothed.... was confused for a second there :) well, you can use a smoothed cage if you want but there really isnt any point. though there may be a point that I don't see :)

first thx for the first part

my second question is the following:

I have a lowres model and a highres model. Is it possible to drive with the lowres model the highres model? The lowres model is NOT the control cage of the highres model. Lets say it is the highres model after some poly reducing.

Why I am asking this? Well I plan to program some kind of modeling program, but the lowres model will be defined due to some algorithmn and because of that it is not the exact unsmoothed version.
