Here's the model, not yet reached the milestone, though - i've made the land part of it (with 3DSMax which i've nearly forgotten how to use) and the structures on the left - been playing with modifiers there...and testing some textures; do you think the picture looks okay? is there anything wrong with it?

One milestone completed at last! - Comments are welcome!
This looks quite different from the concept sketch, just the floor smoothed out using a patch grid, and tall structures put in for the magnificence effect, and 3 smaller objects that i put in themiddle of the "Arena" where the event is going to take place - that's to offset the scale of the magnificent structures...now for texturing, hope that won't take as long as modeling does, or i'll soon be out of the contest, if i am not already!

finished the lighting...colourless scene has some indistinctly coloured lights...like something's going to happen

This is a mixture of rendering and post effects, something is glowing on the ground, waiting to happen...
