View Full Version : FBX, MAYA, and seperating verticies.
Konstruct 01-07-2004, 09:05 AM so the issue is i have a mac and use maya- and the rest of the team with the ecception of one, us PC and max.
were trying to send 3d files back and forth via FBX, because its a universal file format.
the problem is, when i export a polygon model from maya, it takes the model and seperates all the verts. the model is still in tact, just all the faces are seperated.
Y?????

Just shooting in the dark here, but maybe Triangulate before export?
Also maybe use OBJ instead? Max imports/exports it well, via a freebie plugin.

http://www.habware.at/duck4.htm#OBJ2MAX
http://www.habware.at/duck4.htm#MAX2OBJ
These work for max4 and max5.
There's another one out there for max6, search in the max forum, was posted not too long ago.

I'm surprised Maya doesn't support OBJ export out-of-the-box, seeing as it was originally an A/W format.
