View Full Version : What's the best way to texture a fish
Nelis 06-21-2002, 09:24 AM could someone show me some examples, tips or other interesting and good material so i can continue my fish.
if you want to look my post is : this smells fishy by nelis in the wip 3d/2d section. now almost on top.

I'd try breadcrums.
I'm sorry, I really am, but you left it sooo open! I'll go take a look at that other thread and see if I can be of any real help.

Are you going to use texture maps or procedurals? I assume there must be some terrible problem with planar mapping a fish with a texture, otherwise that'd be what everyone does right?

Actually, planar mapping it would probably work perfectly :thumbsup:
Just unwrap it along the x-axis, and you're set ;)
The only tricky thing is getting a side view photo of a fish without too much lighting in it....

I textured the following fish with just a planar map.
Twas a quick job and it did the trick.
