Just finished work on this. Made with 3d studio max, default scanline renderer. Some color correction and blurring in photoshop.

I might be adding a broken sharkcage and the underside of a boat. Enjoy!

it's beautiful but just not yet photoreal and that's because of the reflections I think. There aren't any (or too hard visible), you definately should add them. very nice work for the rest, I like the idea of the broken cage.

I always like it when I see dutch art around

The idea of the broken cage is very good, I think you should do it, so your image can tell a story, if you see what I mean...
Otherwise your shark is :buttrock:

it's Sherman..!! :p

i think the teeth are a tad too clean.. you can dirty them up a bit by attaching red flesh bits.. and also put some remoras, the little fish which travel with shark.. other than that, it's rockin..

sharks are actualy QUITE glossy, so definatly add highlights (they arn't crisp like plastic, they are becuase of how the skin is..) soft but rather obvious ones.. also, why are his eye's black?? he doesn't look to be feeding (he's not froshing) and its just him/her so maybe give it the less evil eyes.. I've realised that sharks are amazing.

Goed werk man, klasse! :)

I think the placing of the mouth could be slightly lower, but it's not very important as the current model looks awesome. Nice render, too!

Thanks for the replys guys. I will look into that reflection thing for the next render.

@ryusen: The remoras are a good idea. I might add them if I find the time to model them

@BiTMAP: What is froshing? On most reference pics I used all the eyes were almost pitch black.

@JZA: Dankjewel, you could be right about the mouth thing. But I'd like to think every shark is different ;)

This is a very good render. This is why I think this- I happened to look at the bottom right corner of the pic, and I saw the terrain that you put in there.
I got chills. I have a fear of deep water.:surprised
So, Good on You!

really good work but I think you need to put some caustics on the shark's back as well as some specular on his eyes as was already mentioned

great image...

i had somewhere an image of a shark's eye, but can not find it now. Try to change it. Its not that dark for sure. It will give it personality.

all the best

nice modellig, maps and environment.... but trash the shader and make a new one.... reflections and a specular maps are a must .... also the bump map need some retouches, too crisp for me...

good work !
