I've made a few hands in my time and find it to be the most difficult part of the human body to model (next to ears). What would be the ultimate hand tutorial, techique or video (commerical or free) that someone could recommend as a straight away template of sorts to knock out fast hands.

This is my favorite one.

I don't find it hard at all.
I usually start with the a long box, and I use the knife tool and move points around to get a good looking finger, I then copy/paste the finger to create all the fingers I want. I stretch/scale/move/rotate... the fingers a little so that they are all in place. Then I attach them by adding polys in between the bases. I extend the points a little and so I have a little ring of polys around each finger and then I continue to extend the points createing the rest of the hand. I then choose the polys where the thumb would stick out of (usually 4 polys) and model it out. I don't know of a tutorial that shows this it is just the way I do it (more or less). :)

Martin Krol's (http://ambient-whisper.cgcommunity.com/) hand modeling video is the best I've seen by far.

Hey CIM, what's the URL to that Asian site that has all of Martin's videos linked? I thought I bookmarked it. It's the one with the Dragon and demon he did in Mirai.

Thanks.

Nice video. ( http://www.newtek.com/products/ligh.../modeling/hand/ )

What tool is he using when he narrows the fingers. It looks like the stretch tool, but when I try it, it doesn't taper like that.
( I also tried the taper tool )

Am I missing something?!?!??! Any help would be great!

You kinda answered your own question a little .

The Taper tool ... its under the Modify panel.

(don't feel bad, I asked that question myself at first)
