Well, this is my first ever digital painting... I got a 6x8 Intuos2 Platinum tablet for Christmas, and I thought I'd break it in with a semi-serious project. :)

Here it is below:

The Dead Gods
Photoshop 7

A concept illustration for the 3D Animated Short I'm putting together that is inspired by the [i]Planescapes cosmology, where the hulks of dead and dying Gods eventually slip into the astral plane to drift timelessly and anonymously.

Like I said, it's my 1st digital painting... I've doodle a lot, but I've always been hesitant to ever post anything on cgtalk because of the amount of talent running rampent through here. :) So many wonderful artists... quite intimidating, you know. hehe.

Anyways, there are some things I'm not entirely happy with, but would like some pointers from others, if possible:

- The "clouds" weren't really supposed to be clouds per se... more of an ethereal haze... not sure that came across, though.
- Should add more detail to the girl's dress
- not entirely sure the immensity of the goddess is evident.
- I'm also afraid the island the girl is standing on looks like a "cutout". Not really sure how to fix this.
- I think I need to add more debris where some of the goddess's broken pieces should be...

Anyways, I'll quit rambling now. Please comment freely!

Looks great, i really like the statue/god that is crumbling, for your first attempt this is great.

I too got a wacom for christmas (great fun) and i really should be spending more time with it. I posted my first thing on here a little while ago which it would be nice for someone to offer some suggestions, but as things sometimes are with cgtalk, unless its on the frontpage you dont always get a look in :P
