Hi! Back again! Here's my school film, AQUALORD, ended 2 years ago.

Aqualord is the story of a fisher who spend his life hunting bigest animals of the sea (whales, sharks etc...). At the end of his life, he decided to find a legendary creature who's known to come to help sailors in troubles. He decided to make a "false" accident, driving his boat on the way of a lighthouse to attract it...

Really cool! I liked it a lot. I'm a little confused, the fisher becomes the new aqua lord? Is that right?

I don't speak french so I may have this wrong, but at the start of the movie , when we see the debris field and have the voice over, is the book that floats in supposed to be the journal of the Fisherman? If so wouldn't it look even better if it looked more hand written? You know, write it out by hand and then scan in it in, remap and rerender? Like I said, I don't speak french so I may be way off base.

Anyway, great job and congrats on finishing a project of this scope!

I made this film alone, with maya 4 source. I did eveything : written the story, drawn the storyboard, 3d and compositing; except for the music, we had the help of 2 compositors.
I had some experience with 3dmax, and I was making my film, learning maya in the same time, so that I made some mistake and it was too late to correct it...
At the end of the film, the fisher who killed the creature became it. Its like this creature was made to exist forever... I like the irony of the situation...
Vidar, you are right... The journal of the fisherman should looke like more hand writtened...
But, now I improved my 3d, I ever thought to RE-make this film, with better quality...
But for the moment I'm working on a 3d clip with pphotorealistics characters...
Maybe later...!

Wow. Very very nice for one guy. Good rain... I saw some trickling down the windows of the boat... amazing!
Good mise-en-scene (my only French). But seriously: cinematography, the storyboard is great. I loved the shot looking up at the lighthouse right before crashing. I wasn't a fan of the harpoon shot, that angle and slo-mo seemed awkward, we need a close up on his face looking smug or a close up on the trigger or something... he doesnt seem to move at all as he shoots... and then cutting directly to the creature on the deck was even more awkward. It seems like a clever little shortcut but everything else is so drawn out (and this is good... for tension) and so it is out of place.
good job,
hen

Thanks for your interesting comments HenningK...
Mys biggets problems for this film was I had to learn the softaware at the same time I was making it... And because it was a studient film, I had to finsihed it in time... It was the biggets problem. And also I'm not good for animation... Thats why I tryed to avoyed animations sequences... Avoyded too much it seems!
Thats true the harpoon shooting sequence is not really good...
Maybe if I make an improved version of the film... I think my sotry is good enaugh to work on it again....
I hope to have time enaugh...
