When you marquee select components maya tells you something like...
select -r polySurface5.f[2917]
Command, flag, argument, then the face number, or sequence of faces to select like it could be [10:20] to select faces 10-20... if I interpret that correctly. (kind of newer to the mel world...if you couldn't tell)
Thats fine and great, but what woudl be ideal for me, is to select a set of faces based on their position in world space, relative to the XYZ axis...like I could select all faces on the given object that are in -X. Any pointers on commands to look into for this?
