I'd change the bump mapping on the bug, to high to my mind. I'd also add more specularity on it (due to the chittin). The ground needs also more tweaking, the texture doesn't make it IMO

I'be seen your animation : quite good, but you can tweak t further. the bug should also have some littl movement from back to front and it should anticipate just a bit more its jump.

no need for higher specularity on this bug...this is how they look.

That's a pretty damn nice render-quality animation there. I don't know how they move in real life, though I'm inclined to agree with Joebount that it could do with some more anticipation. That could be seen as a sort of move into cartoon-territority though, so idunno.
Cool movements overall..maybe more DoF? Or some more objects to see it's size.. it looks a bit like it could be a contender in a wrestle contest at the moment, if you get my size-related drift :)
