Iam trying to make a roman helmet model for a 3d animation as an intro with an educational program.
Iam trying to make it with polygonal tools but i find it a bit difficult due to the back of the helmet.I tried also surface tools but with no luck.I wonder if with nurbs would be a smoother solution but i have litle experience with nurbs.Any method proposed with any of these tools would be fantastic.

Many thanks in advance.

can you post an image of what exactly you're trying to model, and maybe some screen caps of what you've done so far? that would help everyone give advice.

Right now though I'd say that if you're having probs with sub-d and spline tools then NURBS would be damn near impossible. MAX's nurbs toolset is not that great.

Well either splines or poly modelling will get you what you want. I'd try and use the modelling method of halves. Only do half and then mirror it, and finish by welding the center verts. That'll make it easier to get the back of the helmet.

Keep us posted. :)
