View Full Version : maya playblast question-
I notice when I do a playblast its always very pixilated around the edges and corners- is there a way I can take the pixelation down? (anti-alising?)
I have to do use the playblast option in maya to show off vertex lighting/painting on my environment.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Are you outputting to fcheck (series of IFF files), or as a movie file?

There isn't much you can do, as far as I know. Playblast, and Fcheck is literally taking screenshots at every frame you tell it to, and then compressing it down. The quality is always going to be a little crappy.

Probably to get better anti aliasing while keeping render time as little as possible, you could do a hardware render for the scene.
It maybe slower than playblast but the quality is much better.

or playblast at twice the size you want to show it at, and resize down with resampling turned on in your favourite video editor

A friend of mine was using the nvidia hardware antialias , he downloaded driver from the nvidia site and his playblasts were antialiased and looked pretty nice.
You should ask around in the technical hardware forum for g-force hardware antialias or check their site.
Sorry for not being able to help more.
