View Full Version : Hardware rendering particles crash

I have a scene with a large amount of particles (I created fireworks).

It renders fine with hardware render until more or less frame 200.
Then, Maya crash, opening a window with the message:
Runtime Error.

I tried to cache the particles and I got the same message when it reaches more or less frame 200...

What am I doing wrong?

I saw the memory usage and it reaches 1,8Gb. I have only 512Mb in my PC. Do I have to buy more RAM in order to render large amount of particles? Or is there a workaround?

Any help is very apreciated!:)

just render what you can>start with another render session where you left off>then stich them together in ....well whatever program you composite with,im useing aura so thats what i would do

just like this

1-1500 frames(or whatever you are wanting the final to be)
1-200
200-400
400-600
600-800
etc
etc
in fact you make different scenes
scene 1=1-200

then you could rightclick batch render all the scenes one after the other
a render manager like those over at highend.com would help

Thanks for your reply.

I tried to render the sequence from 200 to 400 and it crashes, too.

Maya caches the particles from 1 to 199 and then starts to render from 200.

So, I'll try to create another scene, put lot of particles just to test if its "too much particles" or if I did something wrong with the previous scene.

Thanks again.:)
