Back from The break and we have two new videos for your to grab and enjoy. The expression editor video shows a quick example of creating an expression using nodes, while the Hard link Demo shows a few new features in Modeler as well as a taste of the new Scene Editor. The meat of the Hard Link demo is showing off a very powerful feature of using the new dynamics. Enjoy!

The hardlink demo looks really cool Proton :) I was thinking of alot of examples I could use it for myself. I also liked some of the latest features UI wise I was seeing in modeler...hopefully there are some more enhancements in store that we dont know about.

I have a question for you, are you aware if Dan Alban has a copy of LW8 like you do? Because Im wondering if his new book (Inside LW8) will cover the majority of things in LW8. Because of the delay and other things I wonder if he will have to release a second edition or will that one come out late :)

[EDIT]

Only reason Im asking is because it looks like one of his books went to print in October...whilist the later went in Decemeber.

Cheers,

-KM

Thanks Proton! Dling the Hard Link now - only 2 more hours to go. But then I'm also dl'ing an AI sdk and playing here on CGTalk at the same time slowing things a but worth the wait none the less.

Anyone that has LW8 can't talk about it (unless you work at NewTek) so if someone tells you they have LightWave 8 they aren't being honest or they are breaking NDA.

I'm sure Dan will be doing what any Author will be doing and that is waiting for LW8 before the book comes out.

So many interesting things in the HardLink movie (a key for selection sets, multiple scene editors, and the Hard FX link which is exactly what people is looking for to animate strings :bounce:

Hi Proton ...

I love all new stuff in animation ... a solid step to make Lightwave a serious alternative in CA ...

Thank you for your work ... i hope you make more of these videos to show all LW[8] new features.

Proton, you mentioned you have more stuff you can show us...LETS SEE THEM!! Come on man, this is America, we want everything bigger better faster NOW!! :bounce: I would personally like to see more character animation tools and stuff since thats the main reason I got Lightwave (Ive had LW since [6]).

Hey Proton thanks for the reply :)

I havent heard of anyone outside of newtek saying that they had a copy or anything like that...hope my comment didnt imply that.

Just curious though...Now Im wondering (If Dan hasnt had a copy yet) How long will it take for his books to actually come out. Since his Inside LW books are basically the defacto standard for most Lw users.... jeez this may turn out to be another situation of wait and see :surprised

I also hope that SplineGod has some courses soon after the release of LW8 as well.....Damn my credit card company is going to love me.

Here is hoping that until then than NT has done a kick ass job on the manual to at least give us a very indepth look at our new and improved toy!

Great videos, please post some more, thanks.

Check out the ClothFX video in the Part 1. That is what he uses to deform the 2 point poly chain.

Thanks for showing the vids Proton. For the next vid, would you consider showing the dopesheet, or more character rig/IK setup features?

Thanks!

Well, some more insight into modeler would be cool.

But there are a few things I'd like to see if we're taking requests here for new vids or screenshots...

How about some benchmarks between a Lightwave 7.5 render and an 8 render?

The dopesheet in action.

Or any new particle tools or functions.
