View Full Version : How important is a seamless mesh?

When I say seamless mesh I mean a mesh where all of the edges are connected and there are no "loose" edges or verts.

I tend to use polys where they are needed, especially for non-organic things. Why wrap a mesh all the way around with verts when I only need to use one vert in a single spot.

Is this bad form?

I guess its dependent on what game you are developing for, but as far as i know it doesn't usually hurt. The only thing that you might have to worry about is weird shadows when lit in-game and obvious smoothing issues..
