Hey everyone I would love any suggestions to my problem...

It seems like when I pull from Audio cd's for the purpose of MP3 Conversions, it goes terribly slow...

I have a Plextor Combo Drive, CDR/DVD/CD Drive, 40 Read

when i pop a CD into the drive and let iTunes take over, i watch the rip speed peak at 0.7x...

my old computer setup would blast at around 10x or 12x...

but i am at a loss... why on earth would it be going so slow?
Are there any options i may have enabled that is causing it to crawl?

and it doesn't go any faster with other rippers, nor does the ripping quality seem to effect it one bit..

any suggestions would be wonderful

thanks everyone =)

well guys, i guess we can count this one as solved...

i played around a lot more in media player, and it seems to be working perfectly now...

my friend who has a plextor told me that itunes doesn't like his drive either...

but he told me media player works fine

sooo.. good deal... =)

hmmm... interesting. In my own case, it was because of poor drivers. Win2K doesn't support ASPI ripping so I tricked the OS into thinking I had SCSI hardware and installed a new ASPI layer from adaptec.com. It let me rip at a *cough* "blazing" *cough* 4x as opposed to 0.7x or analog. -.-" Then I gave up entirely. I don't buy any music these days .... can't find anything interesting.
