I'm new to photoshop and ive been struggling with painting. I find it hard to learn with online tutorials and was wondering if anyone had any books that they suggest for me to buy to study painting in photoshop. thanks!

"Bert Monroy Photorealistic Techniques with Photoshop and Illustrator" sorry I don't have the isbn. Check Amazon.com

Learn how to paint traditionally as well if you don't know how already. It helps tremendously to know the hows and why's before applying color.
