View Full Version : Question: Final Gather: Baking Lighting into Nurbs Objects

Hello all,

I am trying to bake the lighting and shading of objects for the first time. I seem to be running into problems when maya tries unsuccessfully to write texture file names that include the "|" character, as in nurbsCube1|topnurbsCube1.tif.

I'm running Windows and know that "|" is not a valid filename character, so I think that's the problem. But I have no control over the filename maya uses, except for adding a prefix, which does not help.

I've thought of attaching the individual nurbs components (such as nurbsCube1|bottomnurbsCube1, nurbsCube1|topnurbsCube1, nurbsCube1|leftnubsCube1, etc) into one continuous piece, but I'm not sure how to do this exactly.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm still rather new to 3D despite months of independent study.

Maya adds that bar symbol when you have 2 nodes with the same name

Dig through your outliner...its there somewhere
