and this is one of my infinite tentatives in maya 4.
( the nose is so hard to build...........)
thanks for the critiques !!

absolutely perfect work! only the hair need some more work. but then she would be as good as reiko and all the other virtual characters.

Very good. Could we see a side view?
Kinda hard to crit it only from the front.

i'm just learning how to cut the polys right, and in this girl head model, i missed the "edge loops" law. the result is quite awful
if viewed from side. the nose is horrible, the chin is grotesque.
and the patches of hair is missing from the sides to the back.
i'm modeling a new character, it's a little better.

here's a wireframe of the girl. can anyone analyze the cuts and
point me where is the errors ?

thanks ! :)

Well there are other ppl that can probably help you out more but I see a few things you could improve on with the cuts. The main thing is the topology around the eyes and the mouth. You want to try and cut them to make rings around them. If no one posts any pics I'll post one tomorrow when I can get back into the lab. One thing you may try doing is starting the model by building the inner part of the eye and mouth and just working your way our from there. That should help you in keeping the rings or edge loops. Here's a quick tutorial I found on using that method.

thanks for the advices!
i'll try that circles around eye and mouth.
but i'm afraid to start the modeling from the eyes.

generally i start with a clean box, extrude the front face, extrude
the bottom face(neck). then cut all faces with 4x4.
delete half of the box. then i try to figure out a general shape
from my mind. at this point, i will use the edge loops from computer arts.

thanks.

Sweet.
I can only say that the lips look a little strange (seems so to me) and the hair of course is to blocky.

yes.the lips are strange because it doesnt
have an edge loop around. but right now i'm modeling
a new head, and its infinitely better.

the hair is missing a lot, the patches are almost repetitive.
but i will use another method.

now this is the actual stage of my new head.
i plan it will not be a human, but an female alien/anime style
with big, shiny eyes.
are the cuts correct ?

well, i think its going well this time.
the polysmooth is ok at this stage.
now... the nose.(the hard part)
this is stage 2.
if its going wrong, anybody could point me the errors ?

Looks promising. Bit square though.
I'm still trying to find out wich technique suits me for headmodelling.

wich 3d software do u use, Parallax ?

there so many option today... (poly, nurbs, true subdivision, patches..)

each software have weak points.
i always tried nurbs, but always bad results.
now i prefer simple polys.
