Hi,

Thanx for the encouragement guys.

Hi Keiyentai,

Thanx for the crit, I'll work more on the body after I finished the boots.

As owner of Neospawn, I would like to ask U for a little advise about starting out as a Character/Levels designer.

I have bought Unreal 2003 and downloaded all of the 3D Buzz Unreal video tutorials. Would this be a good starting point for eventual Freelance work in the Gaming industry.

Your advice would be most apreciated.

Thankyou.

Hey I like how it's coming along. THe lips look killer. Personaly what I did is I just tryed to get in to projects if I was qualyfied and so on. THen I eventualy Started Tale of a Thousand Moons and made NeoSpawn my future company. Have 16 people and 2 more highy interested in it. Just make models and look in the Colaberated projects or Studio Hiring. That what I did. I just started my own and now it's booming. :D companies are looking for level designers alot now too. Hope that helps man. If you want you can check out my thread in my SIG. Later man.

Awesome boots man! Very stylish, but would a foot really fit in there, they look a little tight to me. Also I think specularity on the black plastic would be up a little more.

DaveLEWIS
01-02-2004, 06:06 PM
Hi N2ChristTheKing,

They probably are a littlr tight, but it don't realy matter coz it a styleized, cartoon character.

Will probably make them tighter in the middle and wider at the front to exagerate the styleized look, probably I haven't pused the stylezied element enough, so the viewer not sure if they real or cartoon, hehe.

Thanx for the crit

Yeah sure thing!

The mat part of the boots was nothing fancy, just a high gloss to specularity ratio.

Somthing like

Spec: 5.5%

Gloss: 40%

Diffuse: 85%

Everythying else at zero.

Very very nice! The iris map looks great. Those eyes are riveting! Maybe this is where you are headed, but for the pupil what I was thinking of was the specular highlight that gives the eye the wet look. (Kinda the way you had it on the iris in the previous, just was missing from the pupil) As is now is too matte.

Great looking character! I really like the way the faint purplish color carries into the shading on the skin. Very goth.

That's a really nice looking old phone! I think the gloss is set a little too high, however, and you need to drop the reflectivity of the receiver down quite a bit. But man, that's looking great!

Your character is looking good as well. It seems like you've got some areas where the mesh is pinching. Specifically in the area where the collarbone meets the neck. Additionally, the transition from neck to jaw looks off to me. Too harsh of a transition. Or possibly to strong of a jaw. From the front, it looks ok. But the back and perspective views are what's throwing me. Also, the polys in the belly-button area need a little work as it's giving off more of a clay feeling than muscle or fat.

Still, this continues to get better with each post. Keep up the good work!
