Hi All! Has anybody tried replicating Jasons method of modeling a mouth in C4d? Allthough I box-model, I found it very interesting. Sad thing, I get very, very wierd results in C4d. Is this an N-Gon issue?

You can't follow Jason's method with box modeling.

not really an issue of this topic, but you can find a correction of the way he modeled the mouth on his page. it's just a different picture, but maybe it's interessting to you... :)

Maybe my post was not clear, I meant I couldŽnt follow his method with C4d Splines. I found his method interesting in that he used splines. I donŽt use splines because I usually box model.

IŽll check his homepage out Cosmic. Thanks

Oh, I got you. Instead of using splines I used poly loops; much more precise than trying to model organics with Cinema's semi-nurbs tools.

;) Whew, I was going nuts, IŽm still a sort of newbie to C4D, so I thought it was my lack of knowledge. Out out of curiosity I read up and played around with splines in order to try out the mouth in "stop staring". I gave up in the end. Polys and box modelling is still the best way to go. Really sad that I still do most of my modelling in other apps instead of C4D. A big help would be if Tweak would trigger a selection, you there Geespot? :-)

Adam,

Can you explain a little more about your poly loops method. Is there a tutorial that demontrates your methodolgy? I was looking into getting the Stop Staring book as well but I'm a big box modeller / slice and dice with Mesh Tools.

Thanks,
Adam

Nothing too complicated--I just created a couple of point rings and bridged them to start out with a sort of polygon donut, which I used in place of the splines that Jason used to model the mouth. So when he would create another spline ring, I would extrude an edge ring instead. Instead of pushing CVs to make the shapes, I pushed points.
