thats a neat room. Looks like it would be in the house of an older couple the way the couch and the tv looks and how the lighting is set.

Not a bad start. First off, I'd definately work on your lighting, perhaps even the composition of it altogether. Try to create some real atmosphere to the room and tell a story using it. Right now, it's just another room. Maybe have the main lightsource be coming from the television and a secondary source be from small side lamp, to help up the contrast and add drama. After you've reworked the lighting to reasonable satisfaction it will be time to readdress your models and textures. Most blattently, add detail and avoid intersection of objects. (pillows into arm rests) You need to add some mesh smooths on some objects to get rid of the sharp edges and start refining detail. The room looks old and used, dirty it up, make things less perfect. Seat cushions need to look used, books missing, tipping, various hights, ect.. Keep it up though, it's coming along and post your progress.

i agree to what Rhid1en said,

you should pay alot more attention to big and small details, and try to go the whole way

i noticed that you did some objects pretty well (couch, tv set), this tells me that you do have some modeling skill, on the other hand you're books are just 3 cloned boxes - see what i mean ?

observing the world around you and following it's rules in your work is the key to good cg imho

The brick texture is vertical on one wall, and horizontal on the other?!

it's a pretty warm scene... would go well with GI. if you don't have a renderer capable of doing that, at least put a few omnis with the "affect specular" property switched off in the large black area on the left. there are rarely solid black shadows in real life... let alone in a home setting.

looks cosy nevertheless....

oh... maybe wallpaper on the walls instead of brick would give the room a different feel.... just a thought.
