Im looking to buy a new computer within 24 hours, defantley want to go the dual opteron route and was planning to use gamepc.com as my supplier b/c they will build and test my machine as well as give me a year warranty on what they built.
I have been researching prices though and it seems as if gamepc jacks up the price on everything, considerbly. As i am on a budget of about $2000 USD, little less or little more i need to cut corners w/e i can. I also plan to buy a quadro fx 500 or 1000 on ebay to save money and i would have to ship that to gamepc then, have htem install it, etc. They seem very professional and i have heard good things but my question is if i should use them or if anyone knows of any other websites like game pc, or i could build it myself as i know the opterons are a little more stable than amds otehr chips when installing them, a problem holding me back from building myself.
If i decide to do that what is the best site w/ the cheapest parts and most variety of choices. I plan on going w/ the opteron 240s and an MSI k8t800 VIA chipset mb but now im hearing that MSI is unstable etc. What do u think is teh ebst solution. Im looking at 2gigs of pc2100 ddr ram in 512 mb sticks. I also want 2 fairly large sized hd the biggest i can afford and i like teh pioneer DVR-A06 dvd burner w/ the thermaltake xaser III case. If anyone knows of a site w/ allt hese componentes please help me out. Also what do u think of my mb choice? should i go for something else? Im looking for SATA suport and maybe 6.1 sound suport b/c i dont want to spend cash on a new soundblaster. Im trying to keep the whole price of the computer at $2000 USD, possibly lower as im not including the graphics card in the price. I have a new, old wildcat 4200 that uses an AGP pro slot so i might just use that if prices get to high.
Any info w/ this would be greatly apreciated as i ahve been waiting so long to finally get this newcomputer, im workin on a 5 year old machine, almost 6 now and have been planning this for too long and im not waiting for any new technology so anyhitng comming "around the corner" i dont even want to hear about. THANK YOU. Oh, & MERRY CHRISTMAS
