hi guys listen i got a problem i read the other things u said about the compression and stuff. heres the problem what is FCheck and what is the best software that i could use to convert my image sequences to movies?? and what kind of file format should i save the images? can u guys help me !!!!!!!! iam really new to this software. its noting like lightwave but o well. if any one can help me out i would appreciat it .

I dont think Maya could render directly to AVI compressed by Codecs.
Do know that it's completly a bad idea to work like that. render to images sequences and then use a program like After Effects or Combustion to convert to AVI or whatever you want.

Absolutely what lazzhar said is spot on, best way to keep image quality is to render out to frames, then you can encode to whatever compression scheme you like, from memory quicktime pro imports image sequences, and theres a handy little app called virtual dub which can re-encode an avi file for you to say divx or whatever you like.

thanks guys really apreaciate it. o and another thing every time i set my project files to a diffrent drive it keeps going to the C drive how do i make it stop doing that ???

If you create a new project and give it your path then set it as active project so maya should always use that path for saving files and rendering pictures and so. Otherwise it will work with you "x:...\My Documents\Maya x"
