I am about to go into a project where I will be rendering with a cartoon look. So if anyone has any references, C4D or not, for me to start my pre-production planning, that would be great.

References?

I'm sure you know mr kaiskai, he posted a few techniques in a thread a while back that I've been messing with and work pretty good (though with fresnel the line thickness can be strange to look at sometimes, haven't tested it in animation yet).

C4d has the default renderer, which quantized well, but isn't the greatest with outlining. And of course 3dmax has illustrator (I think that's what it's called), which is very versatile.

Well vI think with a bit of work we can do it. My experiments begin in a few days.
