wew that's great concept work! welcome here :)
Love to see those in 3d! Great work! But I must say you're a bit weak, not having the strength to post this stuff before:p
My favourite is the cab-like, last car in the second image.
Have fun,

Excellent work! One small thing..your perspective gets a little weird on the ships (not all of them). Believe me..this work is mint...and I wish to find no flaws, but this did stick out to me...mainly the ship w/ the front-left view on the bottom.
Charlee
06-19-2002, 07:19 PM
Yep. youre right, no problem. The ships are about one year old, done in the early preproduction for a TV Series. Quick done work with some mistakes, you´re right. But thanx for your opinion!

Amazing work! Really wonderfull marker? stuff!
But I assume you need some critique, dont you =)))
:applause:
First, and I think you know that you are better at character work then michanical stuff. I can see more organic shapes in your ships because of that. Sometimes you strugle to get the form of the ships right and that leads to using primitives. Again this is no through every non-character design just some of that. I know that because I have the same problem but other way around. Whenever I do character work it has a bit technical feel to it.
Great shading as well. I hope... sooner or later I can do colored marker drawing but whenewer I do it they look like crap. I can really appreciate the shading as it is quite hard to learn. I have couple color markers besides cold grays that I use, but most of the time I either need skill to use them or I need more tones...
If you have any tips on color markers, I would really appreciate it!

@DSedov
I know what you mean, no prob! Partially you´re right! As I mentioned before, this are some older concepts, also my firsts in technical concept. The first idea was to create some retro design without that clean doug chiang metall style, a problem not easy to resolve. The spaceships should look old, dirty, used, very used and old. Let me see, if I get the approval, I can post next week some newer stuff.
Some marker technics? Work wet, very wet and slowly. Take small parts and finish them, starting with the light colours first. I always wanted to make a tut for that, in the next weeks I will have the time to make that.
Some awesome scetches on your site. So young and so talented, great. Love that!

thanks for a tip! Actually I love the idea of "old and dirty" it basically shows more realistically the concept!

Hey Charlee, you brought some cool stuff in here. especially your first image is top knooch. that gun is kick ass!
keep it up!

06-23-2002, 04:36 PM
well, i quote "any chance that you could draw..." which is a question, not a demand, and "just a thought" that i use as my signature to show that all of my posts are posted as personal thoughts, not demands. Of course he has a day job, and of course he has to meet his personal life demands first. If he happens to have spair time with nothing to do in his hands, i'd just like him to have the thought that blueprints of his work will be greatly appreciated by some.
Or i could just wait for him self to come up with the idea to make blueprints which may seem rather pointless to himself because he wouldn't know "who needs them anyways"....:)
So i rephrase, for some to see better my point, should have the spare time from work, YOUR fun, and your family, and dont know what to do with that time, remember that if you wish to GREATLY please some ppl, you could take the time to make blueprints of some of your work. Should you do them, GREAT, should you not, still GREAT....[better?]

hey Charlee!! Hope i'm not stealing your bit, but here's an unfinished/untextured model completely (as much as I could) based on your futuristic car design. Tell if me you like it!

wow, thanks!! I was afraid you weren't going to like it, but i'm REALLY glad you did!! Well, i went on with the modelling, it's missing the back as you can see, i'll work on that today. About texturing, well, i don't know how much i'll be doing, cos i'm not really any good working with image maps....
Well here's a small update.
I will post another one when I do some renders with texturing.
PS: thanks for looking up if a job can be scored for me, but you're sorta waisting your time, cos i'm going to the army REAL soon (8th of July) for two years, and i'll be having offs like 2 times a week, which is too little to actually get seriously involved. but really thanks anyways!!!!!! I totally appreciate you even just saying that!
