CGTalk - magically disappearing buttons

Hi all,

Okay, so I load up Maya and half of the button images for every shelf are missing. Every other one, like clockwork. Anyone know what the deal is? The images are still in the correct places, since I can go through and manually point each shelf command to the correct icon. Would take forever though. And restore default shelves does not work.

I'm sure its not just you. There have been many "stupid little problems" with maya, where things like to disappear and reappear with startups. Unbinding of keys, and shelfs dissapearing [sic] I don't suppose this is the most logical answer, but I guess its always good to reinstall once in a while to get the kinks out or some stupid setting overwritten. Best I can tell ya ;)

Okay, I got those icon images back. I had the same problem after reinstalling Maya, but then I cut the Maya directory out of my profile's documents directory so that Maya would be forced to write a new folder there for my profile. Then all the images appeared fine. I then pasted my projects back into the correct folder in my new Maya profile space.

Still don't know how this happened. I think the only thing I did differently before the problem was accidentally loading up a second session of Maya.
