View Full Version : messiah:animation w.i.p. - Bonehead
dobermunk 12-22-2003, 12:08 PM If you'd rather have something more finished you might want to wait, but things have been getting quiet so I thought I'd link this animation I've done.
Please keep in mind, I am as very poor techD and I am only now getting into animation, but with messiah, I was able to set things up quickly and animate efficiently.

I would love feedback about the animation - i know that the ball comes in too slow, that he dies in that tween-moment, etc. but hit me with it anyway! Need tips.
Also any tips about key management. As you see, mine are all kind of jittery.

Good start! Try and go more extreme with the poses. Like the design and look of the character too.

Thanks for the feedback!
character design is by Thorsten Kiecker: www.stenarts.com
I saw this design hanging on his wall and just took it - thought he'd be perfect for some short TV ident skits. He was so cool! After I modeled him we both got together with Marvin Clifford and worked out some ideas.
tOd, you're right. While setting the poses they all looked alright, but now it all seems a bit mild. Need to make it a bit snappier too...

I really like this animation & character. I don't have any animation crits beyond what you've already mentioned. I'd say that the rendering needs more focused lighting; it kinda dark. For example, for this type of animation, it feels like you may need a "soft & subtle" spotlight on the ball so it gains greater focus, and adds greater "weight" to the charater being compelled to kick it.
Nice work:thumbsup:

Thanks, Lyle!
Actually, agree with you 100 % about the lighting. Surfacing is also a bit rushed. He also has no tongue :-|
I've taken two approaches at rendering in Messiah but haven't had enough time away from jobs to really figure it out.
That will change in the new year!
