View Full Version : Human Modeling
Jatobi 12-21-2003, 06:17 AM Anyone know of any good Human Modeling tutorials?
I have never done a human before but tried and failed. Im slowly working my way into vehicles and I want to put together a scene with German troops from WWII and panzers rushing a town.
If anyone knows any tutorials on WWII Soldiers or human modeling please let me know.

I don't know about soldiers but www.3dtotal.com has a great human modelling tutorial. It's called Joan of Arc and teaches everything from the reference pictures to modelling to texturing to rigging to animation. :)

well, I tried the Angelina Jolie tutorial posted by someone here on the forums and its using splines. When I go to put a surface modifier on it, the model vanishes. I dont have ANY idea how to connect the splines together so it forms 1 unique plane instead of 2/3 splines that arent connected. I know thats why its doing it, if they were all connected at the vertices, then it would have placed the surface modifier on it.
Can someone explain?

The threshold on the surface modifier determines how close the vertices but be before it is considered connected. I suggest you "Fuse" all the vertices you intend to be connected and set the threshold to something very low like 0.001. Remember the surface modifer will turn any 3 or 4 sided shapes into a visible polygon. For example, a trangle and square will appear as opaque where as a pentagon will be a hole. I hope this helps. :D

Heh, for an absolute beginner, it didn't tell me how to set up the illustration on planes as reference. How does one do that?

Actually it does tell you how to set up the images.
