View Full Version : IK/FK blend using support joints

hey, i'm trying out a new setup for IK/FK blending.
for this setup i'm using support joints, in this case for my arm. i've already set up support joints for the legs and there everything went fine.


but now on the arm, nothing works like it should. I have connected the outputs from the support joint, to the inputs of the actual skeleton. I have set up an IK handle between the wrist joint of the support joints. now the only thing left to do is put the support joint back in place (on top of the actual skeleton) and pole vector constrain a locator to the IK handle in the support joint.

the problem is, when I try to snap the support joint into place, the IK handle gets left behind, and I have to snap that in place afterwards. the support joint snaps into place fine, but when I try to put the IK handle in place, both the arms (support and actual skeleton) start swinging around.
I've already tried parenting the IK to the support joint, snapping it in place and THEN unparenting the IK, that works fine, but when I try to pole vector the IK handle then, the whole thing starts all over again. :s

I hope you can understand what i'm trying to say.

This is what we were taught this year in class. It works very well and looks very similar to what you are trying. Perhaps it can help.
