DuttyFoot 12-17-2003, 10:47 PM if u import dwg files into max would u have to do any tweaks...my cuz is an architect and intends to import some buildings into max as .dwg from here program that she uses

i havent found importing dwg to be wholly failsafe...i make sure i have a print out to check them, and sometimes go to the length of opening them in illustrator then resaving them out as .ai after cleaning them up and removing unwanted crap.

is .dwg 2d, for example if you created a building with another program and saved it as .dwg would it save the 3d model as a 3d object or 2d

I regularly import 3d models from Autocad 2000 into Max 5 as .DWG files for rendering and it generally works well once you've worked out the correct import settings to avoid getting flipped normals. It can take quite a time to import larger models though, a current project for a terrace of houses took nearly 2 hours to import just had to leave it chugging.
