Hi there,
this is a video clip I have directed in a Brazillian Studio,

This band is called DETONAUTAS ROQUE CLUBE
and the song is called "OLHOS CERTOS"

this video was originally, created to be a short movie I was
gonna do, but, as this job showed up, and it fitted well
with the concept, I thought it would be a good idea to
merge the idea and oportunity...

this video was done using string puppets mixed with 3d
animation and painted backgrounds to achieve an unique
result....

the couple, main interest in the video, were filmed on chroma
and aplied to a CG envoirement...
it was created a small ciclorama, with a structure for the
puppet master, Bernardo Rohrmann, to be on top,
unfortunaelly I don´t have those images...
maybe when i release my website I´ll upload it... :]

the band was filmed on a circus-like cenography, just
for the link, puppets/reality, and they had to be on it,
right?

about the CG part of the video, it was all done with
3ds max...

Dilson M2 was the animation director, and sole 3d animator
on the drew (really, he did all the 3d animation on the video
in 1 month, I had many heroes in this project).
he was also responsible for the shading and even some
modelling...

Rodolpho de Souza was responsible for almost all of the
modelling in the video...

I was, responsible for finalization supervision, in after effects,
and background supervision, as much as art direction and
character design, having done for exemple the ocean, burning city
and giant scenes...

Raquel Falkenbach was responsible for the composition on the
first takes of the video, the cople scenes...
she also created the sea and clowds, some of my favorite
paintings in the video...

Diego Galuzzo did some of the design and compositions, as the
castle, mills and the lighthouse.
and Daniel Nobre helped with composition.

all the CG in this video was done in 1 month, believe it or not...

this video is a Twister Studio production, executive producer is
Mr. Sérgio Schmid... great boss!

Hey you, Mr. Director!

Great post here! (and big, too, heh)

That was a very pleasurable work to be done, despite of the very short deadline...I remember we working, without go to home about 2 weeks! That was a very bad memories...heheh

We are very happy because this video having make sucess in the brazilian MTV. This make me forget a little that bad memories...heheh

The art direction of this work is the diference, in my opinion. The visual of this videoclip is very original. Congrats, Mr. Velcro Director!


Bah!!! And, dudes...sorry about my baaad english... :P

Excellent quality especially to be completed within a month! There must have been some late nights in there.

The way you captured the marionette movements was flawless to my eye and the style in which you lit and controlled the set was also outstanding. In particular when the lead character was on the boat at sea and the monster rose from the waves the mood of the scene snapped shut and the sky darkened as if by hand.

The style and concept was executed with great skill and the entire production was very difficult to flaw. I think I may have preferred softer fades across the transition between puppet and real world rather than the many hard cuts but this is a minor quibble.

Congratulations to all involved in this production.
