View Full Version : Vehicle: Mustang BOSS 302

This is my new work made in 3ds Max 5.1 (scanline renderer (without GI)) & Painter 8. Driver and horse are from Poser, but I remodel them in max.
No photos used for texturing, I paint everything myself in painter.
C&C are welcome.

Nice job! i would like to see some others renders and take a better look at the rims :D
12-15-2003, 06:18 PM
No widzisz nie bolało ;).

U rock dude :) Imo this one should be plugged!
12-15-2003, 07:26 PM
the model looks perfect, nice painting job too! how long did you work?
12-15-2003, 07:33 PM
awesome dude
12-15-2003, 07:40 PM
If there is anything to crit at all, then I'd say the paint looks a bit too matt. I'd expect a bright highligh/reflection on to of the roof. Something along those lines.
But who cares... this ROCKS! :buttrock:
Love your lighting (rain makes a good change from the usually sunny settings), scene setup, composition, the whole lot! So glad not to see another car+showroom reflections+plain background. 5 fat stars from me!
Bring on that award, Lildragon! :D
12-15-2003, 08:11 PM
Awesome, simply awesome.
Nice choice in cars, too.

12-15-2003, 09:30 PM
I love it, the color scheme is so eerie....it looks like it would make for a great commercial, presenting the history and evolution of the mustang...hehe :applause:
12-15-2003, 09:48 PM
no no Batou juz Ci gratulowalem ale teraz bedzie oficjalnie na CG :) chce sie jedno powiedziec- POLAK POTRAFI :)
12-15-2003, 09:58 PM
Whoa. I love it.
I've been linked here from car forums, and lately I've been perusing looking for great car pictures. This one takes the cake. It sure wins in the creativity category. I have incredible renders of cars, but most of them with plain backgrounds...this one offers something new, something I really love...
I like the hood latches, something someone without care might have missed. You obviously poured your heart into this one many times over. <-My first smiley...
12-15-2003, 10:06 PM
This is really something! What I like best is the headlights, and the looks off course. It almost doesnt look like a cg image. :applause:
12-15-2003, 10:44 PM
 awesome work ! :applause: its my new wallpaper
Very good model, texturing and composition, only one thing, the horse it,s too big for me.
Awasome work, congratulations.

as the owner of a 70 mustang, I must say your work is AMAZING!!!
When i saw the title I knew I was in for a treat, but DAMN you blew me away...
12-16-2003, 05:54 AM
same with all of above, I'm a mustang nut and I was like ohh my fave a boss, then I was like damnnnn man that killer. Evil looking rendering to me. I feel something has happend or is about to. :buttrock:
12-16-2003, 07:28 AM
Favorite car ever you rendered it perfectly. Love the speed effect.
12-16-2003, 07:41 AM
As I wrote on F3D. Great job! The best car I've ever seen. Dobra robota.
12-16-2003, 10:27 AM
Give us some wire.
12-16-2003, 10:29 AM
Awesome render. Looks so real. And the wet feeling is very realistic. The horse is gr8 too! But the sky looks weird, I suggest you making the scene brighter, with blue sky and yellow desert.
12-16-2003, 02:57 PM
As I said on f3d I like a mood very much. Nice job and for sure it's one of the best cg cars I ever have seen.
12-16-2003, 03:05 PM
well, there's my new desktop.
Sweet work man
12-16-2003, 04:25 PM

I love the monochromatic color scheme.
An animation of this scene would go perfectly with the White Zombie song 'Black Sunshine'.
"Gripping the wheel his knuckles went white with desire
The wheels of his Mustang exploding on the highway like a slug from a .45
True Death: 400 Horsepower of maximum performance piercing the night
This is Black Sunshine."
12-16-2003, 08:54 PM
i can´t say i am into cars - but this one looks great !
although i do not like horses for some reason, i love the colours and the overall mood of the picture ! :bounce:
Great Work !
12-16-2003, 09:44 PM
Ooooh my God!!! (colloquialism... there is no God at all)
What a marvellous work! Everything is great: Car modelling (****).... Lighting (****)..... Atmosphere and colours (****)..... Materials (****).... Composition (****).... etc..
The motion blur is impressive and the only thing I´m missing is the lack of water particles around the wheels (splashing).
And finally I wanna say this shot makes me think of a movie filming (height and angle of the camera, but mainly the focus lighting on the car). Do you agree?
12-17-2003, 01:18 AM
Excuse me while I pick my jaw up...
I love mustangs and that's why I own one.
12-17-2003, 01:49 AM
Really great work, i love this work very much.
12-17-2003, 07:05 AM
Nice. Good environment. The overall impression is exelent. I love the rims. :bounce:
12-17-2003, 10:30 AM
Was the specular highlights on the front wheel guard done in post?
12-17-2003, 01:49 PM
WOW. just wow. I never post much in the car renders posts when they pop up. But yours is not about getting a nice photoreal thing is it! I really like the composition of colours, moody sky and that purple. FANTASTIC MOTION BLUR. Really gives the sense of motion
Tops! Boss indeed!
Brilliant! I love the mustang. Been thinking of modelling one myself but haven't found any good blueprints yet. Been searching my ass off. Anyone know where I can get some?
One of the absolutley nicest cg I seen, ever.
Car art at highest level :)
Love the "feeling" in it.
Have read this forum for a while, but regeistred now just to say this :).

12-19-2003, 02:10 PM
Yes, this is it
I love such point of view - with pseudo-realistic works are the galeries full... But this is art. Bravo Saito :applause:
12-19-2003, 02:54 PM
All great comments without exception, and still no plug or award?!
I guess you should've made a character...
Common moderators, this is quality ART!

I agree that this looks like something that might be in a film or a commercial (nice grain to it), I like that very much. Also like the nighttime stormy mood in Southern Utah (looks like from the landscape) very powerful mood.
Only crit is the lighting, namely, your background shows what looks to be a moonrise yet I have these "moonlike" specular highlights on the opposite(viewing) side rims. As an alternative you might consider making the background a lot less light but have it be a glow from a city so that you could still make out those great red cliffs in sillhouette. Then the strong highlights (which I think you need) on the viewing side of the car would be from the moon.
Hey thats a great pic! I particularly love the mood and the colors scheme. Really awesome job man
12-21-2003, 09:02 AM
Usually I just ghost around in this forum just to check out stuff. Very few projects make me to post a reply.
This one is insane! And you said that you did ALL of it youself, including the background picture? WOW. What a great atmoshpere you created here!
Very well done.
Keep it up!
12-21-2003, 09:46 AM

12-21-2003, 03:39 PM
Thanks for all comments
ElKrullo : Yes. Background was painted in Corel Painter 8.
Previous version without motion blur:
12-21-2003, 04:39 PM
dude, you inspire me to do this, I just got a pile of photos of roads.
This view is awesome. I did a boss awhile back also, I love how this car reflects.
12-21-2003, 10:17 PM
That is fantastic. :buttrock:
But am I seeing things? Is that somebody's face reflected in each of the tail lights?

I bought a 68 Mustang as my first car several years ago. Sadly I sold it recently. I'd rather have one of these...and hope to find one soon. It's easy to fall in love with the Mustangs.
What you've created is very beautiful and a tribute to THE classic muscle car. The car is perfect and the motion blur shows it at it's best...fast. I love the dark desaturated look. Very mysterious.
The best rendering of the best car I've ever seen. And, like others have added, my new desktop.
12-22-2003, 04:52 AM
And this is scanline, man U rock:thumbsup: Come on lil, anybody!! CGChoice twice imo:)
12-22-2003, 06:25 AM
Please tell me how you did the rain on the car. I do not understand how this is even remotley possible.
12-22-2003, 08:02 AM
Wow thats killer!!!
The car looks awesome, I really need to work on texturing, lighting, and compositing.
VERY GOOD WORK!!!
12-22-2003, 09:23 AM
I can not believe!Its amazing!!!!!
The enviorment , and both the mustang(aNimal) and the mustang(car) .The lighting is unbelieveable!
The mood of the first shot is simply perfect.
I also like the reflections on the second one really much.
Thanks to share your work!
