Sleepless 06-17-2002, 07:30 AM A weekend excercise, not exactly a concept painting... fun but characters are exciting.

It's not a paint over, but I did look at a photo for ref while painting.
Choosing something to paint or draw is always tough for me so I just picked out anything. I think it's not so important what it is, but that I just do something. Ever have that problem?
I hope to do a bunch of small quick studies like this, maybe even getting better a little each time.....But for now fun time is over, I sadly have to go back to the real world of assignment work for a few days.
Thanks to all for your comments, they inspire me to keep workin'
A community like this will keep you wanting to make "art"

I often have trouble deciding what to draw as well. But I think my problem stems from an overactive urge to be original. Any ideas that don't excite me and seem unique I usually discard. Picky picky  .
Great painting, by the way. You're one of the few artists here that successfully breaks out of the realism trap, and confidently adds colour as a tool of atmosphere and tone, not mere accurate representation.

Love the loose feel, the dramatic lighting is very refreshing.
Excellent exercising of talent!

About 3 hours, I'm kinda slow making some of the decisions, it would have taken a lot longer if I did it with traditional paints.
