Not quite,
They went to Maya for all animation because Messiah Animate was unreleased and the advance version was not ready for production use.
They model, texture, light and render in Lightwave and they developed their own inhouse translation tools. Their artist only have to press a button to go back and forth between Maya and Lightwave.
Now that sounds familiar :p

The pmg product was used for the "production" work on the Neutron film.

Yes Chewey, the PMG product was used on the Neutron film. So that brings me back to my original question:
Why is Maya now being used instead of Messiah?
I heard a RUMOUR that the studio that created the animation for the movie folded, and now the television series is being done by someone else.
Can anyone substantiate this?

The Plugin Messiah 1.57 was used for the film.
The TV series is using Maya and Lightwave.
DNA Productions has not folded.

Whether or not they started using Maya is irrelivent really.
The show still looks and feels the same as the Movie, which is a testement to the great work DNA are doing.
The fact that they still use Lightwave to do all the modelling and rendering shows you they make decisions that work for the show rather than for some software name dropping.
