View Full Version : Rendering on Multiple Computers?
immy786 06-17-2002, 01:03 AM I have 3 other computers hooked up to my lan, all PC.
I am using Win2kpro and Maya 4.0. Is there any way to share the rendering on my other computers to cut time in half?

If it's an animation with multiple frames one easy thing you can do is to distribute the entire Maya scene file to each PC then have each one render out one third of the whole animation. Then you would simply put the three rendered movies together to make your whole animation.
If its a single frame I have no clue. Sorry. :hmm:

It is possibel to get programs that distribute the rendering of frames to individual computers and then have them all put in one directory (did it when i waws at college). Sorry i don't know the names of any or the cost but you may be able to grab a free one at highend3d.com.

I believe it's something that's done from the command line. (and don't shoot me if this is wrong, cos my Maya experience is sorely limited, and this is second hand).
Alternatively, use Beowulf Linux. Hey, if it's good enough for NASA....
