View Full Version : [IMG] Egg Valley
(Very) quick modeling - lofts and scattered geospheres, and a lighting study - photon mapped/regathered, sub-surface scattered teeth and eggs, simple fog.
Spent a long... long time tweaking the lighting and atmosphere and finding a good color scheme and angle. 3d Studio Max and Brazil.
Crits and comments appreciated!

That's really cool, it's got a real painterly quality to it. Nice.

This is simply amazing. And you've got only 2 replays. I like the concept and the atmosphere. The result of sss is great. Very good shading and lighting. One question. Did you finish it in Photoshop or this is 100% Brazil?
Lovely soft feel to that piece. Only things catching my eye; the hatching tentacle -- the shadow runing along the right side seems a little harsh. I would have thought there would be enough reflected light from the eggs to soften that up a bit. And have you taken a look at it with a tiny bit less white in the fog?
Great piece, excellent depth, and a refined monocromatic colour scheme :)

How did you create the sky? Is it a bitmap or procedural?
Nice image.

realy cool...
the atmosphere is wonderful and the lighting is good...

Thanks for all the kind words -
Kary - agree, more blue in the fog is in order.
Fun - The backround is a bitmap, mostly obscured by the layered fog.
VL - only a little bloom (about 30% opacity) was added to the eggs in Photoshop, otherwise it's straight out of Brazil.
For variety - here's another toon variation I was playing with:

Much more heavily Photoshopped.
