ummm it is cool... The body has a lot of definition. But the fingers could use a little more work. Are you going to put some clothes on it? As far as cute goes, it is kind of cute and creepy looking, like the love child of "alien" and gray men. hehe kind of funny...

Sure you want such an extremely big head? It´ll be hard to animate it in certain poses, etc. Maybe you should shrink it just a weezy, tiny, little bit? ;-)
But it looks good already!

Really nice character. Maybe it's just me, but there's something chimp-ish about him :)

hehehe, pretty good. :)
I think the feet are kinda a little bit too thick.
around the ankle, looks kinda thick.
good job.
Well thanx alot for the replies ppl! It's the first time i get critiques to my posts ... oh wait ... its my first post eheheh...
Ok. Archieoi
First of all, thanx. You r absolutely right, the fingers have NO work at all done to them. It needs alot of work in the hands still. As for the clothes, my first idea was to give him a kind of space suite-like clothing, but now i think i'll let it stay just like that. And ok, maibe it's not THAT cute lol!

Well the head lol, it's kind of a big controversial matter here at the office eheheh. Some have the same opinion that u do, some have mine, that shrinking it makes it loose its ... cartoonish? ... look? Anyways thanx!
azazel
Thanx alot. Yep, i think its the lips that make it look like a small chimp!
neversong
Thanx again! And you'r also right. It is too thick. That has led me to lots of headaches when skinning it , it's hell getting those joint deformations to work right, believe me! I'll need to reformulate some areas of the mesh, the ankles being definitely one of them!
Here are some anim tests i'm doin. Sorry for the light, but i kinda tested some light setups in the same scenes as well lol!

oh he is sooooooo sweeeeet :D
Hi again!
By request of the customer and director, made several changes to the initial design.
First, the head was remodeled, shape, size and mouth area.
Second, reshaped the body for it to be less chubby and more tall.
Please tell me what you think of the remodeling. I'd love to know various opinions, so please c&c people! :)
Thanx!

Love the butt-cheeks!
Greets again!
I'm postin this one in hope of getting some c&c on the FX part of the spot.
Supposedly, the alien will suddenly materialize in the room.
Now, i'm trying to get neither the SHAZZAM! here i am effect nor the "Beam me up scotty" kinda look, so i thought of makin a phase-in effect.
Please take in consideration the following things:
1- the bakground is just a reference, it will be real, not cg, so of course i didn't even bothered making the light effex affect it.
2- the char is in pose stance, it will probably be movin a bit
3 - Most of the effect will not be fully seen, it will be shown in cuts, some of them will only be perceived by the real room illumination.
Please tell me what u think of the effect itself.
Thanx in advance!

Hi all mighty Albertini:)
I´m happy to see new developments on this one!
It´s looking very good!!!
I saw the test movie and really like it, althoug i have a few sugestions:
In the beginning, when it "glows in" you could try to really materialize it... perhaps with particles? flowing around and slowly building is body shape?
At the end, it would be nice if he as some sort of light radiating from is body for a short amount of time. Kind of a small incandescence of his flesh, not a great halo around him...
You could try to make the scan lines vertical (less TV effect) and moving around him, like they here a cilinder of energy.
Hi hope this ideas help broadening up your experiments...

Um dia destes combina-se um almoço para ir aí dar cabo do juízo ao people:) E para falar do REGRESSO DO REI (é claro que já foste ver...)!!!!

Was done with MR Displacement (oh yeah, rendertimes, rendertimes).
Still lots of work to be done if i decide to follow this path, but i posted it so u guys can gimme some opinion. Well, at least i hope.
Thanx.

Oh god, now he's a cross between a furby and and alien!
If you're going to go down the fur route, try to make it look more like fur (longer, maybe) instead of spraypaint hair or carpet...
Cute character!
yep i can see ur point, but i don't have fur in max :)
anyways, it's not exactly fur ... its ... well .... oh well it's kinda rough skin :)

Get rid of that furry thing, he is like from a movie "Mars planet of apes", orginal was far more cute and good looking...

Hi Albertini!!!
You should lower the displacement effect, or make that noise bigger, it´s looking like a strange "carpet" fur :)
I like the variation of the color, better then the all white body.
Make him a good shader for the eyes... it deserves :)))) They are too flat plastic.

é bom ver algum trabalho neste pequeno:)

I prefer the one without the noise, looks cuter for sure ;)
Thanx alot for the support and crits, ppl!
I'm trying to make a better fur for him, just to see whats the result :)
I'll keep updating as possible, thou the original reason for this has kinda vanished away ... :(
Again, thanx for all the replies. And i agree, he looks better without fur, at least as it is by now :)

Hi
Q_B, I do check your thread from time to time. I'm expecting new material in new posts, but perhaps you are sending new material to old posts, are you?
Hopefully, and with the customer's and my company agreement, i'll be able to post the final tv commercial, wich is already done :)
Oh and a lill note, eheheheh, a pluxe toy is being made out of him lol ... maibe i can post a pic of it later too :)

OH! nice, here you are. Ilove the small alien. He looks funny.
In my opinion he looks better with the grey/white skin without any textures, just like you had him while modeling, you know! ;)
