When I set an object's "rest" position, in the setup tab, is there anyway to make that position be the new zero position? I'm running through the tutorials, and I understand that certain effects (flex, flexmotion) require the object to be facing -Z.

The docs state:
"Flex points should only be placed along the z axis. In other words, if you wanted to put Flex onto a human character, the object would have to be saved out of modeler in a lying down position."

Does that mean I have to do this in the modeler, and there is no way to do this w/in messiah? I just want to make absolutely sure.

The Setup position will be the rest position but it won't make the coordinates into 0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0. When you're in Animate mode and you press Reset it will go back to the rest position that was created in Setup and the coordinates will show that position.

As for Flex, while it's still generally good for characters to be set up facing +Z, the old limitations of Flex curves have been overcome. Take a look at the Flex video on the web site to see how to use it now. The tutorial in the docs will be updated.
