Alright, today I might order Lightwave and I just want to know if it is any good? I want to know what I am getting into before I spend the money. Is this going to be hard to understand? Well, if you can post some reviews I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Don't listen to CIM. The rest is easy.

Seriously. I think you'll find Lightwave easier to learn then most packages.

And Lightwave rocks.

yeah lightwave is great - ehad over the the lightwave gallery and have a look - while your more judging the artists than the proram it still shows what lightwave is capable off

also yeah its pretty easy to learn certainly no harder than any of the others - i'd say it was easier for me personally

and price for power its a great deal

Don't you think it's a bit silly to come to a LightWave forum and ask if the program is any good? The people here don't use it because they think it's crap :p

Like any software, it has its strengths and weaknesses. I'd recommend trying out the demo before making any decision (the same goes for any program).

I agree with Leigh and also have to say I'm tired of subject titles that have NO SUBJECT!

Sounds like an impulse buy too. The point of ordering it was made before asking if it was any good.

Also there are even Mods on cgtalk that post the "NO SUBJECT" threads just to get view too. :) "Hey look at this"/"This is cool"/"new offer"

Very good software indeed. For the price there is no others.
Most complete package, lacks a few things, but the main is here.
You can achieve mostly anything with a lot of tweaking, patience and passion.

yeah, i wouldnt buy it hoping its good. I literally spent 4 months, looking at all the top 3d apps i was interested it.

For me, (taking into consideration the things I was looking for), I choose lightwave. And I've been here eversince.

It did take awhile, as I had no 3d experience at that time.

review and decide.

It was easier for me. At the time Alias was still tens of thousands of dollars and only ran on SGIs. 3D studio didn't exist...it was Autocad's crappy solid rendering funtions. Lightwave was part of a $2000 video switcher.

Yowza! Wish I had $1500 to spend on an impluse buy. Ah, the possibilities...

ray_MAN, Leigh is right, purchasing a 3d package shouldn't be an impluse buy sort of thing. You really need to try them out for yourself, currently it's a bit hard to try out Lightwave, you have to contact Newtek and get the free Discovery version sent to you on CD or you can download the 7.5c patch off Newtek's site and download a sentinel driver and that makes the 7.5c patch run in the demo (discovery) mode. There's a thread about it here or on the Newtek boards that explains what to do, just do a quick search.

Can someone please tell me where the demo is?
I have looked at the NewTek website nothing there.
