Hi,

I imported a poly that was made in Maya into Max using obj importer. I noticed parts of it is clipped. I played with the clipping plane and that didn't fix the problem and it does a full render...I can see everything. I think its just the preview.

Also, how do I smooth the edge of my model like the option in sphere's parameter. I don't want to add geometery, I want to keep the same poly count.

Thanks, Eric

The clipping problem is probably scale related. It happens now and then when you are working at a very small scale.

Try the 'viewport clipping' option: rightclick on the word 'perspective' in your viewport and active 'viewport clipping'
A line and two traingles appear, drag the lower triangle a little lower.

Maybe scaling your objects to a bigger size also helps.

You can smooth your object by either applying a 'smooth' modifier (and activate 'autosmooth'), or you could smooth it by hand (in polygon subobject mode of the mesh).

Good luck!

Thanks Marcel for the help.

I also notice there are black lines showing up when I render my character. Are there any option that u know of when importing obj objects. Also, I find my model looks fatter when I import from Maya to Max.

Thanks, Eric
