What is the easiest way to copy a pose in the dope sheet?

Right now I select every bone and null and then move the key. I've also tried messing with groups so that selecting one thing in the group it automatically adds everything to the dope sheet, but it seems like there must be an easier way then this.

Thanks for any and all help.

Copy?

Go to the frame you want
Create key - select the frame number
select current object, group, heirarchary, or all
hit enter

There's your copy.

Thanks Julez. I prefer working in the dope sheet when handling poses and timing and was just hoping there was an easier way. Not that it's a huge pain now, but every single step I can take off, makes animating go smoother. I must say I'm really digging messiah so far and it's animation capabilities are almost Animation Master level, which is saying something.

Actually, that is ONE step.
If you like your pose at frame (lets say)10 you go there, hit enter, and specify where to copy your pose....

I guess its easier then moving your mouse around :)

So you consider going to the frame you want, hitting enter, then entering the frame you want to copy the pose to and then hitting enter again one step? You must be using that new math I keep hearing about. :p

While I do agree that what you are saying does work, it is not the same as just grabbing the frame in the dopesheet or dopemaster and moving it to where you want to go. Sorry, I'm so used to the main app I've been using the last few years, Animation Master, that I just want messiah to be as powerful and as easy to use. At least as it relates to character animating that is. I do realize that a lot of this is just me getting used to messiah's ways and isn't really a this app is better then that app thing.

add a nul and place some keys on it
Then use ctl or atl ot shift or copy paste commands.
It might already be in there and just undocumented.
Lyle and crew are busy on something and are of the forum for a while... when they come back on, I ansure they will address it.

I already asked Labuzz if he could try to make a Copy/Paste pose kinda script, one with a simple interface that could be open all the time we wanted. He told me heīs busy right now, but im beting he will try something, after all he is right now the messiah plugin/script man hehehehe:buttrock:

Another cool feature would be a Copy Mirror, itīs ideal for walk cycles, i got used to it when i had to make some games animations last year with Character Studio, itīs really a time saver

I assume you know about the alt copy method?
Click on the key in the dope sheet, hold the mouse button, press the alt key and drag the copy of the key to where you want.

Just select the right mode in the dope sheet. All Items, hierarchy, groups, etc,
I use this often, my control objects are in a group so I have the dope sheet in group mode.
Hope this makes sense

Bill.

I do use the alt drag method a ton (and love it) but didn't realize you could have it effect groups or all, etc. WHenever I did it, it only effected what was selected. The only way I could move them all was if I had all the nulls and bones I wanted selected so they showed up in the dope sheet and then dragged.

How do I set groups, all etc in the dope sheet?

Ok, I found what you were talking about Bill.

Just in case anyone else missed this too. When you click the dopesheet on/off icon to on, right underneath it will say Current Item, Descendents and so on. You can left click or right click through the list. I had a feeling it was there somewhere, I just never saw it. Very cool!

Guess I need to go through the docs again.

Go into setup mode and set your groups.
