View Full Version : Notebook for 3D ?

IŽll do a year abroad in new zealand. The first half in a non-profit organisation, the second IŽll do "work and travel". But because I want to study 3d/VFX anfterwards a notebook would be quite useful. Could you recommend any machine, that doesnŽt cost much more than 1600 EUR? It should be able to handle Blender, 3DsMax/VRay, AE, PS... . IŽm afraid, that I buy one and it just overheats.
Would be very thankful

Did you see the m4600 and m6600 on their Dell Precision Business Outlet- Sure they are refurbished but you can get a nice lapper for under 1K (US)- Well under 1600 EUR

Essentially a real workstation laptop for CG is gonna cost ya (HP, DELL, APPLE) but there are ways to get a deal- check online for Dell promo codes, call sales for a better deal and check outlets:
Here are the links:
and keep in mind that if you chat with sales you may get an even better deal.
m4600 starting at 809 for scratch and dent up to 2159 (US)
m6600 starting at 1219 to 2389 (US) and keep in mind that the cheaper ones are still nice laptops.
I went new but if I didn't have my discount through work then I would have good refurbished, maybe even scratch/dent.

Good choice- I've done tons and tons of research and this was by far the best option- I have to wait til my purchaser is in on Thursday. I though it had been done already but I already have my invoice and the accounts payable quote in. I'll keep you posted on how it works out- I don't pay tax and get a discount and get free standard ground shipping so it may be a bit before i get mine.
